In the summer of 2012 E3Think (owner of Inventropolis) began road analysis of what will be a new bike share program in Weehawken, Hoboken and Jersey City.
The purpose of this analysis included road worthiness, inter-modal connectivity and ease of travelling from one landmark to the next. The original plan was to roll out private sector tourist based bike share in year one, and then propose commuter bike share in year two. However, with the very progressive Hoboken city government, E3Think pulled together a team for what ultimately became the Hoboken Hybrid in the summer of 2013.
